"Liar" is the third track on Emilie Autumn's Opheliac. The song is 6:01 in length, making it the second longest song on the album, succeeded only by "Swallow," which is 6:15. "Liar" was re-released in 2007 as the first track of Emilie's Liar & Dead is the New Alive EP. The song is a fan favorite, and was performed at every Opheliac show as well as early Fight Like a Girl shows. The song was also performed on WGN news in 2009, featuring Emilie's four Bloody Crumpets at the time - Aprella, Contessa, Maggot, and Veronica. The concert performances involved a number of grotesque and controversial stunts, such as Emilie being pushed around in a wheelchair and the Crumpets lathering her arms in fake blood as she pretended to cut her skin.

According to Autumn, the lyrics were mostly written "by an ex-boyfriend by means of love letters and empty promises." This song contains the line, “I'll spend eternity comparing all my poetry to yours,” lyrically connecting it to I Know Where You Sleep, which contains the line, “And by the way, your poetry sucks." The latter song openly jabs at Billy Corgan's hit Bullet With Butterfly Wings with The Smashing Pumpkins, leaving audiences to believe that the ex-boyfriend in question is none other than Corgan.
